District Police Officer (DPO) Charsadda, Asif Bahadar Khan has said that the accused involved in the desecration of the holy Quran is a lunatic who could not even tell his name.

He said that the accused either speaks Urdu or Hindko.

The DPO said that the overall situation in Mandani and Dhaki was under control while the educational institutes across the district had been reopened.

Talking to the media Tuesday, he said that the accused was mentally not fit, and even could not tell his name or address, adding that 78 accused involved in attacking police station and check posts had been arrested and booked on the charges of damaging the government properties and instigating violence against police.

These accused were produced before the court.

The DPO said special teams had been formed to arrest other accused, adding those involved will be dealt with an iron hand, adding that SDPOs and SHOs had been assigned the task of arresting the accused.
