Speeding bus, carrying pilgrims from Ancholi to Iran, ramms into a trailer on Northern Bypass, Manghopir

A woman and driver of a bus were killed and 13 others, including six women, were injured when a speeding bus, carrying pilgrims from Ancholi to Iran, rammed into a trailer on Northern Bypass, Manghopir on Thursday.

The accident occurred due to heavy fog. Chhipa volunteers evacuated the injured and the dead from the bus and shifted them to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where 32-year-old woman who died in the accident was identified as Iqra while the deceased bus driver was identified as Sohail, a resident of Balochistan.

The injured were identified as Ghulam Ali son of Ghulam Qadir, 25, Mureed Ali son of Mahabir Ali, 25, Khurshid son of Mureed Ali, 45, Azhar Mehdi son of Mureed Ali, 21, Amina daughter of Mureed Ali, 17, Najma wife of Taqi, 62, her husband Taqi son of Karar Hussain, 70, Sabiqa Abbas wife of Hussain Abbas, 56, Rana Zaidi wife of Raees Haider, 45, Ale Raza son of Iqbal Raza, 50, and Shabana daughter of Rahim, 48.

 Two of the injured could not be identified immediately. The injured were later referred to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre due to lack of medical facilities at Abbasi.

Doctors and paramedical staff of the hospital expressed helplessness and told The Express Tribune on the condition of anonymity that everything from blades to drips are purchased privately by the patients' attendants as the hospital has been left on its own.
