As a result of the strike by the Petroleum Dealers Association (PDA) across the city, not only the citizens but the rescue service providers also faced problems.
According to a spokesperson for Chhipa Foundation, due to the closure of petrol pumps in the city, their rescue operations were affected by 50 per cent.
Long queues of vehicles was seen at petrol pumps amid inadequate fuel supply. Ambulances are the first to arrive at the scene of any accident in the city and if the ambulances do not have fuel, there will definitely be severe difficulties in providing services.
The spokesperson added that the non-availability of ambulances had led to severe problems in shifting the accidents victims and other patients to hospitals. The spokesperson feared that rescue services will come to a halt if the fuel supply was not restored immediately.
On the other hand, Edhi Foundation said that they have a stock of petrol for about a week, but if the situation persisted then they might also face fuel shortage. Similar situation was faced by almost every welfare institution.
