Chaklala Cantt Board approves redesigning of Ammar Chowk underpass

RAWALPINDI:

Pakistan Muslim LeagueNawaz and Jamaat-e-Islami’s joint candidate Chaudhry Changiz Khan was elected unopposed as the vice president of the Chaklala Cantonment Board.

Chaudhry Khurram Siddique of the PML-N took the oath on the seat of farmer and George Shehzad belonging to Jamaat-e-Islami took the oath as a minority member.

The board meeting also approved the redesigning and rescheduling of the Ammar Shaheed Chowk underpass expansion project. The Chaklala Cantonment Board meeting was held under the chair of President Cantonment Board Brig Salman Nazar.

President Cantonment Board administered oath to Chaudhry Khurram Siddique of the PML-N, who was elected on a farmer seat and George Shehzad of the Jamaat-e-Islami, who was elected on a minority seat, and 12 other nominated government members.

Chaudhry Changes Khan is the younger brother of former PML-N senator Chaudhry Tanveer Khan.

Meanwhile, PTI's Chaudhry Noman Shaukat, who had announced to contest for the slot of the vice-president, did not take part in the election.

Chaudhry Noman Shaukat had the support of PTI's Ajmer Khan and Azad Amber Cantonment Board Chaudhry Shehzad Ahmed.

The meeting was attended by PML-N members Raja Irfan Imtiaz, Chaudhry Changes Khan, Raja Pervez Akhtar, Muhammad Jameel, Malik Azhar Naeem, farmer member Chaudhry Khurram Siddique, Khalid Mehmood Mirza of Jamaat-e-Islami, Yasir Khan Qureshi and George Shehzad. Attended.

During the meeting, members proposed to extend the amnesty scheme for the approval of building plans of five marla houses without penalty and a special committee comprising members was constituted in this regard.

The meeting approved the redesigning and rescheduling of Ammar Shaheed Chowk, which has entered the final phase of completion with funding of Rs1 billion from the government of Punjab.

CCB former vice-president Raja Irfan Imtiaz raised the issue of the graveyard and drinking water plants in the Chaklala Cantonment area.

Cantonment Board President Brig Salman Nazar assured to resolve these issues. Vice President Chaudhry Changes Khan thanked the house for electing him unopposed.
