IHC extends stay against Zardari’s indictment

Earlier, accountability court had dismissed Zardari's petition

ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday extended the stay order against the indictment of former president Asif Ali Zardari in the reference pertaining to Rs8 billion suspicious bank transactions.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Aamer Farooq, heard the appeal of PPP Co-chairman Zardari against the decision of the accountability court dismissing his acquittal plea in the reference.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) submitted its comments against the appeal of former president after the court sought arguments from Zardari's lawyer on December 14.

Earlier, the accountability court had dismissed the petition of Zardari.

Meanwhile, AC-II adjourned hearing till December 13, on Thatta water supply reference connected with the fake bank accounts scam.

The hearing was adjourned without proceeding due to leave of AC-II Judge Muhammad Azam Khan.

parveez shafi | 2 years ago | Reply Nothing will happen to these corrupt the courts are weak. Politicians are very good at playing these games. Buying time until the next government comes in. We need a just dictatorship which will get rid of these people once and for all. Unfortunately thats not possible in the near future.
