Tribesmen threaten march on Peshawar

Janni Khel Wazir tribesmen have once again threatened of marching on Peshawar next Sunday if their demands are not accepted immediately.

A grand Jirga of the tribesmen was held at the end of a large rally in Janni Khel, Wazir Subdivision, Bannu district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) under the leadership of former MPA Adnan Wazir to decide the future course of action. The participants chanted slogans against the government and blamed that they were facing immense difficulties without inviting any attention.

They blamed that government was not serious in bringing peace to the area, forcing them to protest for the acceptance of their demands.

Adnan Wazir, Alaudin, Maulana Zar Naeem, Maulana Niaz Ali, Malik Moeez Khan, Malik Mamoor Khan, Subhan Wali, Wali Khan, Mameez Khan and other addressed the participants.

They blamed that decisions regarding the Janni Khel tribesmen were made behind the closed doors and it was not acceptable for them.

“Janni Khel tribesmen have lost their men and staged at least four sits-in after which the chief minister and provincial ministers made promises with us but these promises were never ever honoured,” said Adnan Wazir, adding that the first demand of the tribesmen was restoring peace in the area which was still an elusive dream.

“We had been promised that all the missing persons will be released but nothing came out of this pledge too,” he said.

“We demanded that all the missing persons should be produced before the court,” he added, saying that it had been promised by the CM that their fate will be decided by the courts.

Other leaders said that government had promised them that all the FIRs against the participants and leaders of the sit-in will be withdrawn but nothing practical happened in this regard too.

“The deputy commissioner told us that they were working on the withdrawal of FIRs but in the past eight months it didn’t happen,” they said.
