BATKHELA:

Six suspects in the murder of social worker and activist Muhammad Zada have been arrested who will soon be produced before the media.

This was claimed by the acting deputy commissioner (DC) Malakand Anwarul Haq during a press conference at his office in Batkhela. He said that they were shocked by the brutal murder of Muhammad Zada like the rest of the public but the authorities needed time to unfold the entire case and reach those responsible. He said that it was unfortunate that some people were trying to use the unfortunate incident for political point scoring and causing public unrest.

“The authorities started investigation on scientific lines from the first day and suspects were arrested and the real culprits will soon be revealed to the media and general public,” he said.

It is worth mentioning here that Muhammad Zada was gunned down in College Colony in Sakhakot. After his murder widespread protests erupted forcing the Chief Minister Mahmood Khan to take notice of the situation and remove deputy commissioner Malakand and assistant commissioner Dargai. An inquiry was also ordered against them and IGP was directed to investigate the matter and arrest those responsible.

Muhammad Zada was considered a powerful voice against the drug dealers and smugglers in the area and it was widely believed that the drug smugglers were behind the murder as a day before his death he asked the district administration to take action against them during an open darbar.
