Delegation briefed on measures taken for socio-economic well-being of refugees who fled from IIOJK

A high-level delegation, including the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) special envoy for Jammu and Kashmir, visited Muzaffarabad during their two-day long visit to the Line of Control (LoC) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Inter-Services Public Relations said on Thursday.

The delegation consisted of the Special Envoy for AJK Ambassador Yousef Aldobeay and Assistant Secretary-General of Humanitarian Affairs Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakheet, and five senior diplomats from Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Sudan, and the Maldives.

The delegation visited the Thotha Refugees Camp, where they were briefed on the measures taken for the socio-economic well-being of inhabitants who fled from atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). They also visited the Vocational Training Centre and had the opportunity to interact with the refugees.

Later, the delegation met the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) where they were apprised of the security monitoring mechanism along the LoC and the prevalent situation of the region.

During the visit, they also met the president and prime minister of AJK, as well as representatives of various political parties and members of civil society.

The delegation thanked the government of Pakistan for giving them an opportunity to visit the area and witness the situation along the LoC and the impact of Indian atrocities on Kashmiris.
