Around 100 more contract dengue virus

2,279 dengue cases emerged from rural areas of Islamabad, while 1,644 surfaced from urban areas

The dengue virus has infected 98 more citizens of Islamabad in the last 24 hours, and the total tally of total infections has reached 3,933. To date, there have been 15 fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in the federal capital.

Islamabad District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Zaeem Zia said 655 cases were brought to Holy Family Hospital (HFH) in Rawalpindi, 169 to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 44 to District Head Quarters (DHQ) Rawalpindi, 395 to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), 116 to Polyclinic Hospital (PCH), 456 to the Federal General Hospital (FGH) and 70 to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) hospital.

He added that in the last 24 hours, 27 cases emerged from urban areas, while 71 were from rural areas. He added that over 1,800 infected residents of Islamabad visited private hospitals and laboratories in the twin cities.

He said that to date, 2,279 dengue cases emerged from rural areas of Islamabad, while 1,644 surfaced from urban areas.

Meanwhile, in neighbouring Rawalpindi, 68 citizens contracted the dengue virus during the last 24 hours, raising the total infection toll to 2,379.

30 patients were brought to HFH, 21 to BBH, and 17 to DHQ during this span. Currently, 164 infected patients are receiving treatment in all three allied hospitals of Rawalpindi.
