PFA seeks citizens’ help to curb adulterated food products

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sought public cooperation to curb the sale of adulterated and sub-standard food products.
PFA Director General Rafaqat Ali Nissoana, on Tuesday, highlighted that citizens can inform or lodge complaints with the authority against the sale of adulterated food products through social media, PFA’s mobile application and toll-free number.
He disclosed that the authority has successfully curbed the sale of adulterated milk in the provincial capital. The PFA’s dairy safety teams in its ongoing campaign inspected 201 milk floats by placing screening pickets at the entry and exit points of the city on Tuesday. It only found 0.4% milk adulteration during inspection of 288,570 litres of milk.

Giving a break-up of inspection data, he indicated that the authority officials checked 103 milk carrying vehicles at Sundar Multan Road, River Ravi Bridge and Sagiyan Interchange whereas 98 vehicles were checked at Babu Sabu Interchange, Ada Plot, Bhobatian Chowk Raiwind Road and Gajumata.
During the operation, 1,286 liters of adulterated milk was disposed of on the spot as contaminants such as polluted water, formalin and urea were found in it. He said that teams have detected the adulteration in milk with the help of modern lactose can machines.
He appealed to citizens to visit the PFA office for free milk testing.
