What Pakistani cricket fans might not have anticipated a month ago is how we would be watching our toughest competitors battling it out for a clean spot in the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup as we sip on our evening tea - without a care in the world.
On Sunday, India and New Zealand went face to face for the first time in this year's T20 World Cup. Blackcaps steered the chase after restricting Virat Kohli-led India to 110/7 in 20 overs. India are now teetering at fifth on Group 2's points table while New Zealand standing at three. Soon after the match, Indian fans vigorously called out Indian skipper and captain for poor performance. The Indian Twitter had been rallying to ban IPL as the hashtag became the top trend in the country late Sunday night.
Meanwhile, on Pakistani Twitter, fans on this side of the border couldn't help but snicker over the collapse of the Indian cricket team. After thrashing both India and New Zealand, Pakistani fans, with bated breath, hoped India would lose to the Blackcaps in their second match of the tournament and they weren't disappointed.
