The internet went berserk with Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid’s break-up news. Rumours had it that their separation was due to a physical altercation between the former One Direction singer and his partner's mother, Yolanda Hadid. According to the official court document, he pled guilty to one offence while he pleaded no contest to the other three.
Contrary to Zayn’s initial statement on his Twitter, he only ‘struck’ Yolanda but he allegedly “shoved (Yolanda) into a dresser causing mental anguish and physical pain", reported TMZ. The 28-year-old singer also verbally abused Yolanda by yelling profanities at her and reportedly calling her “a f***ing Dutch slut.” During the argument, he also told her to “stay away from [my] daughter,” as per the document.
Another charge on him is of harassing the American model, Gigi. According to official sources, the model was in Paris during the incident but her now ex-boyfriend, Zayn, also abused her on phone for not defending him against Yolanda. Even though the singer pleaded no contest to the other charges, he was fined in court with conditions. He's on 90 days probation for each count, totaling 360 days.
He must also complete an anger management class and a domestic violence program. The court has also ordered him to have no contact with either Yolanda or the security guard. Assuming all conditions are satisfied after 6 months, the judge could terminate probation.
The former singer took to Twitter to announce that the matter was ‘private’ and he wished for it to be resolved within the family. However, it became a public affair when Zayn was charged with four criminal offences of harassment in court.
The altercation happened on September 29 in their Pennsylvania home where the model and singer raise their one-year-old daughter Khai. As reported earlier, the couple has now broken up and has decided to co-parent their daughter Khai.
