Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, during a meeting at the CM House on Wednesday, reviewed the progress of 19 development schemes worth Rs14.67 billion, launched under Karachi Annual Development Programme (ADP) mega projects.
The projects include six on-going costing Rs7.1 billion and 13 new schemes worth Rs7.57 billion.
The CM directed the KMC Administrator Murtaza Wahab to personally monitor the execution and quality of the works. He also directed the administrator to beautify the entry and exit points of Karachi and remove encroachments from Sohrab Goth and take measures for the uplift of the area.
Besides KMC administrator, the meeting was also attended by Karachi Commissioner Iqbal Memon, PSCM Sajid Jamal Abro, P&D Chairman Hassan Naqvi, Local Government Secretary Najam Shah, Secretary Finance Hassan Naqvi, Karachi Package PD, Najeeb Ahmed, Programme Manager Khalid Masroor and other concerned officers.
Regarding beautifying the city, the chief minister directed the KMC administrator to pay attention towards the uplift of Submarine Roundabout Underpass which carries importance as it falls in the middle of Clifton and Defence Housing Authority.
The chief minister was informed that a U-turn at Natha Khan Bridge was launched at a cost of Rs214.466 million. Seventy per cent of the work on this project has been completed while the remaining work is in progress.
The chief minister directed the administrator accelerate the work to ensure its completion at the earliest so that the smooth flow of traffic is restored.
Work on the road reconstruction projects worth Rs2 billion has been completed by 50 per cent. The chief minister directed the local government secretary to visit the on-going work and submit progress report.
The chief minister was also informed that the work on Rs198.8 million scheme of construction of storm water drain from Star Gate to Chakora Nullah, Shahrae-Faisal has been completed by 85 per cent but the work is facing a delay as Civil Aviation Housing Society has refused to issue the NOC.
The chief minister directed the local government secretary to talk to the authorities concerned and resume work.
