MULTAN:

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) disposed of 2,000 litres of adulterated milk during a raid on a milk centre on Habib Afshar Colony, Al-Tamish Road on Friday.

PFA Director General Rafaqat Niswana said the dairy safety team found a mixture of water and detergents in the milk during the lacto scan test.

The DG said the milk was low in natural nutrients and fat. He said hundreds of litres of unhealthy milk were disposed due to harmful ingredients.

He said the adulterated milk was to be supplied to milk shops in the city and suburbs.

Consumption of substandard milk can lead to fatal diseases of the digestive system, Niswana said. Reportedly, the collection centre was also fined Rs20,000 on the spot.
