Police register case, launch hunt for suspect

A man was allegedly attacked with acid by his son in the city on Wednesday.

As a result of the incident, the victim’s hands and feet were burnt. Rescue 1122 personnel rushed the victim to a hospital after providing medical treatment.

Police said a stand had been taken in the case registered at Sargodha Road police station by the victim, son of Abdul Wahid, who worked in Muslim Park Phase II and Garments, that the wife of his eldest son Mujahid had left the house in anger due to a domestic dispute.

Mujahid demanded from his father that he go bring his wife.

However, Mujahid’s father refused to and speak to his daughter-in-law.

On the day of the incident, the suspect Mujahid entered his father’s room and started an altercation.

He then took out a bottle of acid and allegedly threw it on his father due to which he suffered burn injuries on both his hands and right foot.

Rescue 1122 personnel shifted the victim to Allied Hospital Faisalabad after providing medical treatment. Sargodha Road police registered a case against Mujahid under Section 336B PPC on the statement of the victim and started raids to arrest the fugitive. Incidents of acid attacks were not uncommon in the province.

On January 3, three persons including a couple were booked for throwing acid on a citizen during an altercation. The case filed by the complainant, a resident of Makoana, Chishtnagar 229, after completion of medical formalities, stated that the accused Ramzan had borrowed Rs26,000 from him.

He went to take back the money when the accused Ramzan along with his wife Ramzana Bibi and son Yaseen threatened the victim with ‘serious consequences’.

Later, the accused physically assaulted the money lender. Ramzan's wife and son then picked up a bottle of acid and gave it to Ramzan who threw the acid on the victim. The victim sustained serious injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital Faisalabad.

On September 15 last year, a man reportedly threw acid on his wife after failing to convince her to return along with him from her parents’ home in Faisalabad. The acid attack left the woman severely injured and she was admitted to the Civil Hospital.

Her husband threw acid on her after she refused to return to his home with him. The victim had married accused Abdul Rafi, son of Abid Qayyum, four years ago.

The accused had tortured his sister and kicked her out of his house over a domestic dispute earlier last year. She went to Faisalabad and was living with her parents.

The accused, armed with a pistol, entered the house with two unidentified accomplices. He had a white cup in his hand and threatened to kill his wife as soon as he arrived.

He later threw the acid from the cup on his wife when she refused to accompany him to his home.

As a result, her eyes, nose, neck and shoulders were badly burnt and her eyes were almost lost. The accused fled the scene on a motorcycle after the attack.

On June 22 last year, as many as five men were arrested by police for throwing acid on their sister-in-law over a domestic dispute in Dera Ghazi Khan. The incident took place in Shah Saddar Din, where the woman informed the police that her brothers-in-law had thrown acid on her face over a domestic dispute.

On May 29 last year, a young girl suffered burn injuries on her face and arm when her fiancé attacked her with acid in Jaranwala.
