Police to aid ANF war on drugs

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that cooperation of police, ANF and other law enforcement agencies was needed to eradicate the menace of drugs from society.

“Therefore, field commanders along with ANF should intensify intelligence-based operations against criminals implicated in smuggling. In this regard, smugglers and dealers should be detained.”

The IGP issued the directions while presiding over a meeting with Punjab ANF at Central Police Office on Monday. The IGP issued directives to ensure provision of any kind of support to ANF teams for taking action against drugs smugglers. He further said that intelligence-based operations should be continued on a daily basis in the vicinity of educational institutions and student hostels to prevent the youth from buying drugs.

He added that special lectures by ANF specialists in the training colleges of Chung, Sihala and Multan should be a part of the course.
