Prime Minister Imran Khan has appreciated the services of Lieutenant General Hamooduz Zaman Khan as the National Coordinator of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

The premier also presented the NCOC memento to outgoing Lt Gen Khan for playing an instrumental role in the nation’s fight against Covid-19 through "flawless management of resources and seamless coordination among all stakeholders".

Planning Minister and NCOC chief Asad Umar also paid tribute to the services of his colleague, saying “he was the best co-pilot I could have asked for in facing the daunting challenge posed by Covid”.

“Today we bid farewell to Lt Gen Humood uz Zaman, National Coordinator NCOC. He is retiring from service after a distinguished career in Pak Army spanning more than 3 decades,” Umar wrote on his official Twitter handle.

The development comes after PM Imran and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa earlier today visited the NCOC where they were apprised of measures taken to contain coronavirus.

During the visit, NCOC Director-General Maj General Asif Mahmood Goraya apprised the prime minister and army chief on the coronavirus situation across Pakistan, a statement issued by the NCOC said.

The NCOC DG also briefed them of the measures put in place to contain the spread of the virus, vaccine administration, and future Covid-19 management strategy.
