Soldier martyred in North Waziristan terrorist attack

Troops initiated a prompt response and effectively engaged the terrorists' location, says ISPR

A soldier of the Pakistan Army was martyred on Monday when terrorists fired on a security forces' post in Spinwam, North Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), the military said.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the troops initiated a prompt response and effectively engaged the terrorists' location. "During intense exchange of fire, Sepoy Saifullah (age 25 years, resident of Karak) embraced shahadat," it added.

The ISPR further said that an area clearance operation was being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area.

In a similar incident earlier this month, a soldier embraced martyrdom after terrorists targeted security forces' post in Ghariuom, North Waziristan.

"During the exchange of fire Sepoy Muhammad Amir Iqbal, age 30 years embraced shahadat," said a press release issued by the ISPR. The statement added that the troops responded promptly.

The military's media wing maintained that an operation to clear the area of any terrorists was in progress.

On October 2, four soldiers of Frontier Corps (FC) and a Levies sub-inspector embraced martyrdom while thwarting a terrorists’ targeted attack on security forces’ vehicle in Spinwam area of North Waziristan.

The martyred soldiers were identified as Havaldar Zahid, resident of Charsadda, age 35 years; Havaldar Ishaq, resident of Kurram, age 37 years; Lance Naik Wali, resident of Khyber, age 28 years; Lance Naik Abdul Majeed, resident of Kurram, age 28 years; and Sub-Inspector Javed, resident of Spinwam, age 38 years, said an ISPR media release.

On September 30, a captain of the army was martyred and a commander of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Tank district of Dera Ismail Khan.

“Security Forces conducted an IBO in Tank on the reported presence of terrorists. TTP terrorist commander Khawaza din alias Sher Khan got killed,” the ISPR said in a statement. The military’s media wing had further added that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the hideout.

“During intense exchange of fire, Captain Sikandar, age 27 years from Pakpattan embraced shahadat,” the ISPR had added.
