PM Imran, Gen Qamar briefed on Covid-19 measures at NCOC

Premier appreciates NCOC efforts in containing spread of deadly virus; presents memento to Lt Gen Hamooduz Zaman

ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday visited the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) where they were apprised of measures taken to contain coronavirus.

During the visit, NCOC Director-General Maj General Asif Mahmood Goraya apprised the PM and army chief on the coronavirus situation across Pakistan, said a statement issued by the NCOC.

The NCOC DG also apprised them of the measures put in place to contain the spread of the virus, vaccine administration, and future Covid-19 management strategy.

PM Imran appreciated the efforts of the NCOC and all federating units for synergised response during the pandemic, for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the people of Pakistan, the statement said.

The premier further directed all the stakeholders to maximise efforts for mandatory vaccination drive and enforcement of requisite NPIs.

Later, PM Imran presented the NCOC memento to Lieutenant General Hamooduz Zaman Khan for outstanding services rendered as the national coordinator at the NCOC.

According to the statement, Zaman, who is retiring, played an instrumental role in the nation’s fight against Covid-19 through "flawless management of resources and seamless coordination among all stakeholders".
