The citizens of Karachi are faced with double trouble as incidents of house robberies are on the rise along with the incidents of street crimes. The East district has emerged as nothing less than a haven for robbers, police record shows. As per crime data available on the Sindh police website, 93 incidents of armed robberies at homes were reported in the city from January 1 to October 10 this year.
The robbers deprived homeowners of gold jewellery, cash, mobile phones and other valuables worth millions of rupees. In East district, the Gulistane Jauhar police station topped the list with 19 incidents of burglary in the said period. According to East district police, the Site Super Highway Industrial Area Police Station was ranked second in terms of burglaries in which 16 incidents were reported whereas Gulshane Iqbal police station came third with 15 incidents of house robberies.
A dozen house robberies were reported within the limits of Sachal police station whereas five incidents each were reported in Sohrab Goth and Bahadurabad police stations, four incidents each in Shahra-e-Faisal, Mubina Town and Tipu Sultan police stations. One incident each was reported in Ferozabad, Mehmoodabad and Brigade police stations. However, no incidents of burglary were reported in Aziz Bhatti, Newtown, PIB Colony and Soldier Bazaar areas. According to statistics, out of 93 robbery incidents from January 1 to October 10 this year, police resolved 19 cases and arrested 47 suspects.
