PESHAWAR:

Three people have succumbed to Covid-19 in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) bringing the total number of deaths to 5,686 so far in the province.

In the last 24 hours, 112 new cases have also surfaced as the number of deaths as well as new cases has considerably dropped in the recent days.

Covid-19 has been showing a downward trend but at the same time the number of dengue cases has been on the rise in the province and Peshawar has been among the worst hit districts. A total of 94 Covid patients currently have been under treatment in two major hospitals of Peshawar, an official of the Health Department Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa told media men here on Sunday. He said in the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) the number of Coronavirus patients reduced to 45.

He said out of 45 patients 12 corona patients were admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and only five new patients have been admitted in the last 24 hours.

Likewise in Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) 122 beds are allotted for Corona patients but currently only 49 patients are under treatment at the facility. He disclosed that KTH has 28 ventilators reserved for Covid patients.

On the other hand, Dengue has claimed five lives as per the ‘official record’ despite the fact that locals claim that dozens have been killed.

On Sunday 107 new cases were reported as government has failed completely to bring the situation under control.
