Protesting family of slain child reaches Quetta

They staged a sit in near Red Zone in Quetta with the coffin of the child and established a protest cam

The family members of child Ramiz Khalil, who was allegedly killed by police during a raid at his house in Buleda area of Kech district, reached Quetta from Turbat carrying with them the coffin of the child after almost covering an 800 kilometer route.

They staged a sit in near Red Zone in Quetta with the coffin of the child and established a protest camp.

The father of the child was nominated in an FIR and police raided his house to arrest him but killed his son instead in exchange of firing, prompting widespread protests from the family members and local residents.

Leader of opposition in Balochistan Assembly Malik Sikandar Khan Advocate, Members of Assembly Malik Naseer Shahwani, Syed Ehsan Shah, Akbar Askani, Abdul Rashid Baloch and Ahmad Nawaz Baloch joined the sit-in.

Shakila Naveed Dehwar, Senior Vice President of BNP Malik Abdul Wali Kakar, Mir Abdul Rauf Rind Including members of civil society joined the sit-in and expressed solidarity with the protesting family and villagers.

According to the child’s family, Ramiz Khalil was shot dead by police in cold blood despite the fact that he was unarmed.

“A judicial commission should be formed to investigate the murder of Ramiz and action should be taken against those responsible,” they demanded.

On the other hand, the police defended itself and claimed that the child was shot dead by his father by mistake during exchange of firing with police and then it was blamed on police.
