Board of Investment (BOI) Secretary Fareena Mazhar on Wednesday presented three game changing projects to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) which would aid Pakistan in becoming a success story in terms of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) progress. During the SDG Second Investment Fair, which is held twice a year under the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, she offered three projects to international investors as per UN international standards. The projects included the Sialkot-Kharian-Rawalpindi Motorway (phase-I and II) and manufacturing of medical equipment. The first two projects specifically focus on SDGs 8, 9 and 11, ie decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure, and sustainable cities and communities. The secretary shared that the projects would be integrating industrial cities like Sialkot, Gujrat and Wazirabad with high-speed connectivity. They would also reduce migration pressure on large cities, which would create thousands of jobs. The third project specifically focuses on SDGs 3, 9 and 10.
