Oldest Pakistan Army veteran passes away at 103

Lt Col (retd) Sultan Mohammed Khan Mengal, the oldest Pakistan Army veteran, passed away in Quetta at the age of 103, chief military spokesperson Major General Babar Iftikhar on Sunday.

Expressing sorrow over the demise, Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar in a tweet said: “May the departed soul rest in eternal peace.”

Col Mengal, a keen soldier and an adventurist, climbed, walked, skied, sailed and rowed through all of Pakistan’s natural terrain on many expeditions, he added.
