KARACHI:

A petition has been filed in the Sindh High Court regarding the appointment of retired officers at Dow University.

Petitioner Mumtaz Hussain argued in the petition that a NAB inquiry was underway against Vice Chancellor Professor Muhammad Saeed Qureshi but despite the NAB probe, the VC’s retirement period was extended for four years. Four officers were posted in the Dow University after their retirement. Retired officers include Dr Rao Sohail and Dr Nusrat. The appointment of PRO to vice chancellors should also be declared null and void, the petition argued, adding, a joint investigation team should be formed to look into the alleged corruption in the university.

Sindh chief minister, secretary universities, chairman Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Dow University registrar and Vice Chancellor Professor Muhammad Saeed Qureshi have been made parties in the petition.
