Armed men rob two houses in DHA Phase IV within half-an-hour

Incidents of burglary in the posh Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area are on the rise again, residents of the upscale locality said.

A couple of days ago armed men robbed two houses in DHA Phase IV within half-an-hour and managed to escape, they said adding that police did nothing except registering cases of both the incidents.

The first incident took place in house number 1/25, Lane9, Phase-IV, DHA where the robbery case was registered with the Gizri police on the complaint of Ahsan Anis.

According to the complainant: "five armed robbers entered the house and locked my mother, father and three employees in a room.

The robbers conducted a thorough search of the ground and the first floor and took away two gold bangles, one gold chain, three rings, one gold bracelet, two diamond tops, one diamond bangle and Rs15,000 cash."

Second incident took place in the house of Dr. Fazal Akhtar of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation in Phase-IV, DHA.

According to Dr Akhtar he went to the hospital in the morning, his wife and mother-in-law had also gone out for some work. There was only a watchman in the house.

"At 2pm, I got a call that a dacoity incident had taken place at the house. I rushed home and found that articles were scattered all over and 11,000 British pounds were missing from the closet."

The complainant said his watchman Iqbal informed, "Four armed men entered the house and held me hostage at gunpoint, looted the valuables from the upper floor and fled away. The suspects were wearing pants, shirts and shalwar kameez."

Police have launched investigation into both the incidents.
