Over 13,000 beat Covid in a single day

Death toll from infectious disease tops 27,000

The national tally of active Covid-19 cases continue to recede on Friday, on the back of more than 13,000 recoveries in the past 24 hours, while the country passed another grim milestone of 27,000 deaths from the pandemic, according to the official data.

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said in its daily update of the disease, the number of active cases on Friday was 65,725, as 2,928 more people tested positive for the virus while 13,716 people made full recovery during the last 24 hours.

On Wednesday, the NCOC reported 10,923 recoveries in a single day and 2,714 new cases. However, on Thursday, the forum said that with 3,012 more people tested positive for the infectious disease while 3,897 people recovered from it. The national positivity ratio was 5.08%.

The latest NCOC update said that 86 patients died during past 24 hours, raising the nationwide death toll to 27,072. Since the pandemic outbreak, 1,218,749 people had been infected wit Covid-19, out of whom 1,125,952 people made full recovery.

According to the forum 4,960 Covid infected patients under treatment in critical condition in various Covid dedicated healthcare facilities of the country. It added that 57,626 tests were conducted across the country on Thursday.
