Timber theft attempt foiled in Murree

Suspect manages to flee the scene following the incident.

An attempt to steal and smuggle timber worth a fortune from Tapa Kair Municipal forests next to Murree Ghadiyal has been foiled.

The suspect allegedly involved in the incident, left the wood and abandoned his vehicle also and fled. He was seen cutting down a tree at night and loading it onto a vehicle.

Locals informed the forest department upon which a team reached the spot. As soon as the suspect saw the team, he left the vehicle and the timber and escaped into the dense jungle. The forest department seized the timber and the vehicle.

Illegal logging and smuggling of timber from the municipal forests is continuing incessantly, but a fine is imposed on people for their involvement in stealing and smuggling timber.
