KARACHI:

Pakistani businessmen are keen to participate in Dubai Expo 2020 after the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government eased travel restrictions.

The expo, which is scheduled to be held from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, will welcome participants and visitors from 191 countries and Pakistan’s pavilion will showcase the country’s expertise and potential before the world.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Events360 Founder and Managing Director Hira Saleem termed Dubai Expo 2020 a great opportunity for Pakistan’s business community, especially the small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to strengthen international trade ties.

“It will be the largest gathering of business elite in the world and it will enable Pakistani companies and SMEs to form partnerships with foreign firms and investors,” she said.

She pointed out that the fair would also be a source of entertainment because a large number of people other than businessmen were heading to the emirate.

She emphasised that her firm would facilitate the participation of Pakistanis in the expo and schedule business-to-business meetings with representatives of global firms so they were able to benefit from the event.

“The event will also be of great interest for those who could not go abroad for tourism during Covid as they can learn about the culture of 191 countries,” he said.

He stressed that promotional activities would be accelerated in the near future to spread more information about the event.
