1,400 students to take part in vaccination drive

Doctors will impart training, awareness to students

LAHORE:

The Punjab government has decided to mobilise 1,400 university students to initiate door to door coronavirus vaccination drive.

Lahore Division Commissioner Capt (retd) Muhammad Usman has said all arrangements have been made to kickstart the door to door coronavirus vaccination campaign under the “Lahore Gets Vaccinated Internship Programme”.

It has been decided that doctors will impart training and awareness to students before sending them in the field for the vaccination campaign.

Earlier, it was planned to initiate the project without pre-training of the student but that proposal had been turned down.

Now the government has decided to conduct training sessions of all student batches selected for the internship program in Alhamrah and Jinnah halls after which the campaign will be initiated formally and these students will be sent to different neighbourhoods along with health officials.

The programme will help students in getting first had field experience and raise awareness among the masses about the significance of the coronavirus vaccine. Commissioner was presiding over a meeting of ‘Lahore gets Vaccinated Internship Programme’ here on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Aman Anwar Kadwai, ADCG Shahid Kathia, PSO to Administrator Waheedu Zaman and Alhamrah Director Zulfiqar Ali.
