At least five dengue cases were reported across the province over the past 24 hours, Punjab Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch confirmed on Monday.
He stated this while reviewing the overall anti-dengue activities across the province.
On the direction of the P&SHD secretary, dengue prevention activities had been intensified across Punjab.
He further said, “All citizens are responsible to take special care of cleanliness.”
He appealed to the citizens that no garbage should be thrown in open places as it will greatly help to prevent mosquito-borne viral infection. The healthcare department was working hard to eradicate dengue larvae and steps were being taken to curb the spread of dengue especially from the start of the monsoon season, the secretary elaborated.

During the past 24 hours four confirmed dengue cases were reported in the provincial capital and one dengue case in Rawalpindi.
During this year, a total of 314 confirmed cases of dengue had been reported from all the hospitals of Punjab and out of all confirmed patients, 252 patients had been reported in Lahore.
At present, a total of 13 patients were admitted across Punjab out of which seven dengue patients were admitted in the hospitals of Lahore.
A total of two patients were admitted to Children’s Hospital Lahore, one patient each was admitted to Ganga Ram Hospital Lahore, Rangers Teaching Hospital Lahore, Masood Hospital Lahore, National Hospital Lahore, and Doctors Hospital Lahore.
A total of two patients were admitted to Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi, two in District Headquarters Hospital Rawalpindi whereas respectively one patient was admitted each in Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi and District Headquarters Hospital Hassan Abdal.
In the past 24 hours, 273,079 indoor locations were checked across Punjab while 68,153, outdoor locations were checked, while larvae were destroyed from 811 locations. In Lahore 55,152 indoor places were checked for dengue larvae 8,435 outdoor locations were checked and 289 positive containers were destroyed.
In this regard, the P&SHD secretary said that precautionary measures against dengue should also be taken besides taking precautionary measures against coronavirus pandemic.
