Of toys and diapers: New parents on the block

The stork has been making the rounds amongst celebrity parents.

It’s all about toys and diapers in Tinseltown. The stork has been quite busy this year as several celebrities have geared up for their new role as a parent reveals E! Online. Tabloid magazines have been rampant with photos of celebrity babies and the latest names in vogue.


On her one year anniversary, 23-year-old singer and actor Hilary Duff announced on her website that she and her husband Mike Comrie are going to be starting a family, according to E! Online. The actor, who began her career with Disney’s television series “Lizzie Mcguire”, posted on her website, “We are extremely happy and ready to start this new chapter of our lives.”

Hollywood actor Jessica Alba, married to film producer Cash Warren, gave birth to her second daughter Haven Garner Warren on August 13. The baby arrived a few days before Alba’s new production, Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World, releases on August 19. At the film’s premiere, Alba revealed to E! Online that Haven may just be the last child for the couple. “I really can’t imagine having more than this, kids are a lot of work and at the end of a pregnancy, you can’t really imagine having more.” But at least for now, congratulations are in order. Talk about a fantastic four!

According to Skyliving.sky.com, other celebrities who are now pushing a pram around town include Victoria and David Beckham, Selma Blair, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany, David Schwimmer and Bryan Adams.

After having three sons, fashion designer Victoria Beckham gave birth to a seven pounds baby girl named Harper Seven on July 10 in Los Angeles. The new addition joins the Beckham brood alongside Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, six. Footballer dad Beckham has even gone to the extent of tattooing his arm with his little girl’s name. Cruel Intentions actor Selma Blair, two-and-a half-weeks past her due date, welcomed her first baby boy, named Arthur Saint Bleick on July 25. Additionally Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy have their very own muse after the 32-year-old actor gave birth to a healthy baby boy, who they named Bingham, on July 9.

Actor couple Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany welcomed their first baby girl, named Agnes Lark on May 31. This is Connelly’s  third child and her second with husband Paul Bettany.  She is mom to 7-year-old son Stellan and 13-year-old son Kai (from her previous relationship with photographer David Dugan). Famously known as Ross,  “Friends” star David Schwimmer and his English photographer wife Zoe Buckman welcomed their first child, a baby girl who they have named Cleo, on May 8.

Rocker Bryan Adams, at the age of 51, has become a father for the first time. The mother of his baby daughter is his personal assistant, Alicia Grimaldi. The singer told People magazine: “I’m really proud to announce on April 22, Mirabella Bunny was born. She arrived like all good Easter bunnies on Easter Friday.”  Former “Lost” star Evangeline Lilly is also expecting. The actor revealed that acting was just her day job and that she wanted to concentrate on being a mother. She also said to Women’s Health, “I have always wanted to have a child of my own and I will always want to go through the gift that women have been given to experience.”

The stars who are currently expecting include singer Jewel, who is now in her second trimester. A year after their nuptials, former “Britain’s Got Talent” judge Piers Morgan and wife Celia are expecting their first child together due in November this year. Morgan, already father to three sons from his first marriage, confirmed the happy news on Twitter.

Let’s just hope that the new generation is as talented as their parents and continue to entertain us!
