After a slew of speculations and trolls surrounding her second son’s name, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, in a recent interview with The Guardian, has responded to the criticism and admitted that her second baby's name is, in fact, Jehangir Ali Khan.
In a conversation detailing how the industry makes a pregnant woman feel, Kareena went on to proudly admit that her sons’ names may have caused a stir but she and Saif decided to stick with them because they were beautiful.
“Honestly, these are names that we just liked; it’s nothing else. They are beautiful names and they’re beautiful boys. It’s unfathomable why somebody would troll children. I feel terrible about it but I have to just focus and get through it. I can’t be looking at my life through the trolls,” she said.
Kareena, who has always been one of the rare stars in Bollywood who embrace their own ‘flaws’ and flaunt them, went on to detail her dislike for false beauty standards and celebrities are always expected to fit them, even during pregnancy. “Most Bollywood actors, when they get pregnant, don’t leave the house because they are stressed about how they look. Because they are no longer this glamorous diva, they get worried if people will judge them for putting on weight. But I just wanted to own it all,” she said.
So while Kareena shot for a few commercials for Puma, it was recommended that her photos be airbrushed. But she didn’t want that. “I don’t want my photos airbrushed because I’m not as skinny as Kate Moss… So should I look like that in my photos?” she asked assertively.
“Nobody wants to talk about belching and swollen feet and not feeling sexy enough, or hair loss, or getting such bad mood swings you don’t even feel like talking,” she had started off saying. “That’s why we talk about sex in the book [Pregnancy Bible]. Most women in India feel scared while addressing this issue. But these are things that we should be talking about,” she added.
On the work front, Kareena Kapoor Khan is looking forward to the release of Laal Singh Chaddha, where she reunites with her former on-screen partner Aamir Khan. The film is an official adaptation of the Tom Hanks blockbuster Forrest Gump.
