ISLAMABAD:

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) repeated on Tuesday its call for the general public to comply with the vaccination drive and the virus-induced standard operating procedures (SOPs), saying that it was the only remedy to avoid contracting a deadly infectious disease.

As the single-day tally of new cases fell below 3,500 level for the first time in nearly three weeks, the NCOC, which serves as the nerve centre of the country’s fight against the global pandemic, took to Twitter to urge the masses to get the second jab of vaccination and follow safety protocols.

“The best strategy against corona[virus] is complete vaccination, use of masks and social distance! Be sure to get a second dose of the vaccine!” the Forum wrote on its official Twitter handle.

Among the active cases, it added, 5,478 Covid-infected patients were under treatment in critical condition in various Covid-dedicated healthcare facilities across the country. The national positivity ratio during the past 24 hours was 6.33%.

The forum added that 98 patients died during the past 24 hours, raising the nationwide death toll to 26,330. As of Tuesday, the national caseload stood at 1,186,234. Of them, the update said, 1,067,589 patients made full recovery.
