Man strangled to death ‘by ex-wife, son’

A woman and her son allegedly killed her husband over a property dispute and threw his body into Gogera branch canal in Sammundri.

According to police, Muhammad Shakeel filed a complaint stating that his brother Muhammad Idrees, who had earlier been married to Khaleda Parveen, resident of Chak No. 441GB, had been murdered.

“My nephew Muhammad Hasnain, 19, along with his mother strangled my brother Idrees on August 26. The body was taken away by the suspects in a rickshaw at about 4am and dumped into the Gogera branch from a bridge near village 464GB.”

The complainant said the victim had been missing from his home for two days and his mobile phone was switched off. His body was found in Gogera branch on Monday, after which Shakeel asked his sister-in-law about it. When questioned, the woman confessed to the murder, divulged the details and asked him to forgive her, the complainant claimed. He alleged that his brother had been murdered because of a property.

Sammundri city police handed over the body to the heirs after postmortem. A case has been registered against Khaleda Parveen and Hasnain under Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) Sections 34 and 302.

Earlier this year in June, a man stabbed his 70-year-old grandfather and four-year-old cousin to death and injured his grandmother, aunt and a two-year-old cousin over a property dispute near Sarki village.

The suspect, Muhammad Adnan, was arrested by Nowshera police and a case was registered against him under Sections 109 (Punishment of abetment if the act abetted committed in consequence and where no express provision is made for its punishment), 302 (Punishment of Qatl-i-amd) and 324 (Attempt to commit qatl-i-amd).

Hafeezur Rehman, son of slain Nawazul Haq, filed a complaint stating that his uncle Abdul Hafeez had informed him that Adnan had come to his house at 8pm and told him that he had come from Rawalpindi and had to rest.

“As soon as he entered the house, he started stabbing my father Nawazul Haq. When my mother Malikani Bibi and wife Ghulam Raqiyah went to rescue my father, the suspect injured them. Adnan also stabbed and injured my young daughters Maryam Alvi and Shifa Alvi,” the complainant stated.

Later, 70-year-old Nawazul Haq and four-year-old Maryam succumbed to their injuries.

After the incident, the injured were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Nowshera. Meanwhile, the deceased were buried after postmortem in the graveyard of their village.

Nowshera police station SHO Amir Shehzad said that the suspect Adnan had been legal action was being taken against him.

In a similar incident in March, a man, his pregnant wife and two children were murdered allegedly by his father in Kotli Kokian.

According to local people, both the children were beaten to death with an iron rod in front of their mother. Later on, the woman was also killed.

According to the police, the incident took place in Kotli Kokian village in Motra area.
