Last year, Major General Nigar Johar made history by becoming the first female officer to be promoted to the rank of lieutenant general, courtesy of her spectacular performance in different leadership and administrative roles.
Now, a series highlighting her achievements is in the works, with superstar Mahira Khan playing the lead. A teaser for this upcoming series has been released, and it sees Mahira echoing the sentiments of Lt Gen Nigar, who aims to meet all the expectations of the people who have appointed her and trusted her to lead them, so her performance can pave the way for more women in leadership positions.
“Men chahti hun fauj ne jo mujhpe aitimaad kiya hai na, men uspe pura utrun, taakay ye rasta, ye khirki, ye darwaza, jo aurat keliye khula hai, wok hula rahay (With the amount of faith our forces have shown in me, I don’t want to let them down. So that this window, this door that has opened for women, remains open),” asserts Mahira’s character in the teaser.
The Superstar actor has also replicated Lt Gen Nigar's look, her accent and to a great extent, her body language, but only time will tell whether she will be able to nail the character in its entirety. Actor Kubra Khan, however, has complete faith in the celebrity. "My girl, I know this will be amazing," she tweeted while sharing the latest teaser.
