Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir’s ZEE5 series Dhoop ki Deewar, which highlights the struggles of martyrs’ families, irrespective of the countries they hail from, is being lauded in India for both its script and leading actors’ performances. Sajal, who has previously captured the hearts of Indian viewers with her portrayal of Arya in MOM, is once again raising the bar with her portrayal of Sara Sher Ali in Umera Ahmad’s story of cross-border love and loss.

Asked about her experience of working in a Bollywood film alongside the late legend, Sri Devi ji, Sajal told India Forums, “Working with Sridevi jee was an honour, an opportunity that I was fortunate enough to experience in my lifetime.” She went on to reveal how she remembers Sri Deviji in two ways, “as my co-star on set, whose performance was a vision to watch the moment the camera started rolling, and as my friend, who was always there for me.”

In July 2020, Sajal had uploaded an adorable throwback photo with the late Bollywood star to mark three years of MOM. Highlighting the struggles that come with making so many temporary connections with characters and people while shooting for a film, Sajal had written, "Not everyone thinks about the things we [actors] have to leave behind when committing to a character.” Earlier, after the news of Sridevi’s passing surfaced, Sajal had shared on Insta, “Lost my mom again..."

Now, about her experience of starring in Dhoop Ki Deewar, Sajal said, “Dhoop Ki Deewar, with its characters, conversations and locations, is a story almost everyone can relate to. Everything associated with this project is closer to reality.” She added, “It is a show with a broader message that spreads love and positivity. I had a great time working on it. The stories and memories that I have made while shooting for it will always have a special place in my heart.”
