The Ministry of National Health Services on Friday fixed the price of Covid-19 vaccine booster shots for individuals travelling abroad at Rs1,270.

According to a notification issued by the ministry, the booster shots will be administered at selected Public Corona Vaccination Centres (CVCs) for travellers.

The announcement comes after the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) made the decision in its meeting on Tuesday.

According to the notification, additional jabs are available to those travelling and will be administered at certain CVCs on payment.

The payment for the additional jab can be deposited at all branches of the National Bank of Pakistan, the notification added.

Earlier this week, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan had said that the government has started considering the initiation of booster shots.

During a press conference, he announced that the additional dose was to be administered six months after the second shot and was intended for the frontline healthcare workers of 50 years of age and immunocompromised persons.

“After consultation, this booster is likely to start from October 1,” he said.

The World Health Organisation recently stated that current data does not indicate whether Covid booster shots are needed and that the most vulnerable people worldwide should be fully vaccinated before high-income countries deploy a top-up.
