Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has imposed over Rs6.1 million fines on citizens over different violations related to improper disposal of solid waste in the city.
A spokesperson for the LWMC highlighted that enforcement department of the waste management company took action against 2,581 violators, registered seven FIRs and filed 55 challans during the current month. It had also issued 1,084 warnings over minor defilements.
LWMC CEO Rafia Haider said it is the top priority of the company to make the provincial capital neat and clean. “The company is taking effective measures to make this possible. The company has checked the 5,229 points and took action against illegal dumping.”
She further said that the LWMC was trying its best to maintain cleanliness in the city but it cannot achieve the desired results without cooperation of the public. She added that the department was using all its resources to maintain cleanliness in the city. “The enforcement department is taking legal action against illegal dumping of waste in the city under the local government act.”
She claimed that such violations in the city will not be spared at any cost.
