BHC CJ pays surprise visit to Quetta jail

The top judge of the province also inspected the kitchens located in the district jail

Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan paid a surprise visit to District Jail Quetta on Friday and met the inmates one by one to inquire about their problems.

He also directed to immediately seek the services of a heart specialist for the immediate treatment of two heart patients in the jail.

On this occasion, Justice Afghan reprimanded the jail authorities for keeping the convicted prisoners in the hospital ward of the district jail without any justification. He ordered immediate transfer of the prisoners to the Central Jail Machh.

CJ Balochistan also inspected the area of special meeting for visitors to the prison. He expressed his indignation over the inactivity of the jail.

Justice Afghan was told that the hall has been inactive for many years prompting him to direct the jail superintendent to issue a notice in this regard.

The top judge of the province also inspected the kitchens located in the district jail and checked the quality of food provided to the inmates.

On the occasion, he along with other judges also sat with the inmates in the barracks and ate a meal.

The lower judiciary comprising judicial officers of Quetta Sessions Division and Sariab Session Division was summoned and after studying the files of pending cases of prisoners, the BHC CJ directed all judicial officers to dispose of the cases expeditiously.

Following the issuance of the directive, Justice Afghan has summoned the IG Jail on August 23 to discuss the matters pertaining to district jail Quetta.
