Victim's rivs broken, head severely injured, says doctor

RAWALPINDI:

A traffic warden suffered serious injuries when a speeding mini-truck ran over him on Airport Road on Saturday.

Initially, Shafqat was shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) and then to the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital on doctors’ advice.

The doctors said the victim’s ribs were broken and the head also sustained injuries in the accident. He didn’t get conscious even after a brain operation and his condition has been reported to be critical.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Imran Ahmar along with Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younis, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rai Mazhar Iqbal, and other police officers visited the victim at DHQ.

They inquired after the health of the victim. RPO directed the hospital management concerned to provide the best medical facilities to the victim.

He said that traffic wardens try to facilitate the citizens and ensure a smooth flow of traffic on city roads day and night in severe weather. CPO said that the suspect involved in the traffic accident would be soon sent behind the bars.

The injured traffic warden hails from the Gujjar Khan area and has been working as a traffic warden for the last 14 years.

CTO said that traffic wardens are the backbone of the traffic force, adding that they are in contact with the family members of the victim.
