Police book head clerk for harassing female colleague

The suspect harassed, threatened a junior female colleague.

The police have registered a case against a college head clerk who harassed and threatened a junior female colleague.

The victim informed RA Bazaar police that she is posted as a junior clerk at Government College for Women Dhok Syedan. She said the head clerk, Chaudhry Abrar, had been harassing her for the past three years in various ways. She alleged the suspect touched her on different pretexts and also did immoral acts.

The victim said that two years ago, she lodged a complaint with the Director of Colleges Jehanzaib after which the college principal Robina Iftikhar obtained a written apology from the suspect on the assurance that he would not repeat his transgressions. However, he started doing lewd acts again.

The victim said on July 24, she went to the head clerk’s room to drink water where he clandestinely came from behind and put his hand on her neck and then held her face with both hands. The victim said that the suspect fled when she resisted and started screaming. The suspect then came to the room’s window and shouted "I love you" to the victim.

She said she also went to the suspect’s house to complain about his conduct but it made no difference.

The victim said the college formed an inquiry committee which started an investigation on August 9 and during the meeting on August 10, the members started taking the side of the head clerk

She said that the head clerk also assaulted the director colleges after breaking into his room after he was transferred from the college.
