One dead, 27 injured by stray bullets

Injured also include women and children

At least one person has died while 27 others injured by stray bullets as result of Independence Day celebratory firing in various parts of the city. The injured also include women and children.

As soon as the clock struck 12:00am, the city echoed with the crackle of gunfire and fire crackers which went on for several minutes. Sources said that the stray bullets from the celebratory firing carried out in various areas injured many people and took the life of at least one citizen on the midnight between Friday and Saturday.

According to police 68-year-old Muhammad Yamin was sleeping on the roof of his house in Natha Khan Goth when a stray bullet hit his head. Shah Faisal Police Station SI Manzoor said the family members of the deceased took the body away without legal formalities.

Meanwhile, a 30-year-old woman hit by a stray bullet near a restaurant in SITE Superhighway Industrial Area who was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. In another incident near Kachi Jamaatkhana area of Lyari's Kumharwara, Muhammad Iqbal and Aslam Islamil, got injured by stray bullets. They were immediately shifted to Dr. Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital.

In several other incidents of the similar nature, Rizwan Raja, 7, Shamim Batool aged 12, Abdul Rehman Baig, 12, Madeeha Rashid, 12, Saqib Sharif, 16, Saad Akbar, 17, Tanveer Bashir Ahmed, 18, were brought to various hospitals of the city.

Separately, Amroz Khan, Muhammad Usman, Ashfaq Zulfiqar, Mateen Ghulam Nabi, Shabana Saeed Ahmed, Shehzadi Rashid, Ayesha Nehal, Muhammad Ismail, , Kinza Pervez, Ghulam Rasool, Meharban Khan,Ghulam Fareed, Raza Khan, Ghulam Ghous, and Behram Nawab, were hit by stray bullets and and shifted to various hospital of the city for emergency medical treatment.
