Coaster-car collision claims two lives

In a separate incident, two tourists die as car plunges into deep gorge in Nathiagali

Two people died while 14 suffered serious injuries in a tragic accident on Hazara Expressway Shatay Interchange.

Police said that the accident took place because of a collision between a Gilgit-bound coaster and a taxi. The taxi was destroyed with four people aboard. The cab driver, Sawar Khan Swati, a resident of Dhodial, and his six-year-old daughter, Bushra, died on the spot.

Two Rescue 1122 vehicles rushed to the spot as soon as the accident was reported. The coaster was hauling 12 people who were severely injured. The deceased and injured were taken to Shainkiari Hospital.

In another incident, two people died while three others sustained injuries when a tourist’s car plunged into a 900 feet deep gorge near Jungle Hotel Nathiagali.

According to the Rescue-1122 sources, the medical and disaster team, after a struggle of two hours recovered the injured from the gorge while the bodies were recovered after four hours owing to the depth and continuous rain.

Two tourist Shah Faisal and Kishor Khan residents of Charsadda died on the spot while Zubair Khan, Naveed Khan and Omer Khan sustained injuries and were shifted to DHQ hospital, Abbottabad, where doctors declared Zubair Khan critical and were referred to Ayub Teaching Hospital.

Last month, two tourists were killed when a car plunged into a ravine near Lolusar Lake in Kaghan Valley. The car’s driver lost control over it while returning to Abbattabad from Babusar Top.

The local people shifted the injured to a hospital in Kaghan, where doctors pronounced Usman Ali and Zulfiqar Ali Khan as dead. Both the victims belonged to Abbottabad.
