ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan on Wednesday hoped that the Afghanistan government would cooperate in the expeditious provision of the requested information in connection with the July 16 incident involving the daughter of Afghanistan’s ambassador in Islamabad.

“We have seen the Afghanistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement [on the matter] and the complainant’s video,” Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri told the media.
“It is once again highlighted that the visiting [Afghan] delegation was given a comprehensive briefing on each aspect of the complaint.”

The Foreign Office spokesperson added that the Pakistan side had facilitated the delegation’s visit to all areas which the complainant had independently visited on 16 July, including F-7, G-7, Rawalpindi, Daman-e-Koh, F-6 and F-9 Park.

“The delegation was informed that the technical data [geo-fencing] matched with the actual movement of complainant on the day contrary to her statement. This was further confirmed by the statements of the taxi drivers", he added.

He further said on the basis of the complete investigation, the delegation was informed that the complaint did not corroborate with the findings on the ground.

The delegation was further requested to facilitate access to the complainant and the official of embassy and phone data, as already requested on July 18.

“It is hoped that the Government of Afghanistan would cooperate in expeditious provision of the earlier requested information,” the FO spokesperson added.

Last month, Afghan Ambassador Najibullah Alikhil’s daughter, Selsila Alikhil, was allegedly kidnapped and later released in Islamabad by unidentified people. She was allegedly subjected to torture during her detention.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid had maintained that the daughter of Afghanistan's ambassador to Pakistan was never kidnapped and it was a conspiracy hatched by Kabul and New Delhi to defame the country.

"Investigation into the incident that occurred with the daughter of the Afghan ambassador has proved to not be an abduction or kidnapping," the minister said during a news conference in Rawalpindi.

Pakistan is facing an unannounced international hybrid war by elements who want to malign the country and destabilise its relations with China and Afghanistan,” he added.

Rashid further said the Islamabad police had reviewed over 700 hours of footage from 300 cameras installed on the travelling route of the Afghan ambassador's daughter and interviewed over 200 citizens.
