The federal government has decided to introduce a new programme for the overseas Pakistanis to send remittances to their homeland which the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet is likely to review and approve today [Wednesday].
The ECC meeting – chaired by Minister for Finance Shaukat Tarin – will be held at 11:30am to discuss the one-point agenda of the National Remittance Loyalty Programme (NRLP), according to the document available with The Express Tribune. The federal cabinet will give final approval to the measure.
A meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan last month was informed that the NRLP would be launched soon to facilitate Pakistani community abroad.
Under this programme, a mobile application will be introduced and more facilities will be extended to Pakistanis abroad besides provision of financial incentives.
The programme will be launched in collaboration with the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR), the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan (SLIC), the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF), the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) and other agencies.
The overseas Pakistanis associated with this programme will receive benefits from these institutions.
