LAHORE:

In a bid to forestall the escalation of an ongoing intraparty fight further into an “irreconcilable” deadlock, members of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s cabinet are scrambling for immediate solutions to the widening gulf, sources said on Monday.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has also been advised to take steps to settle down the deteriorating matters and calm down the agitated members of the Tareen group, sources added.

The manoeuvrings to iron out the differences come days after Awn Chaudhry resigned as Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar’s aide in the support of the disgruntled Jahangir Tareen group, which had seriously dented the reputation of the government and laid bare the deepening rifts within the party.

The members of the estrange faction are also expected to hold a crucial meeting soon after Jahangir Tareen’s return from Lodhran to come up with a plan to give a tough time to the government.

Sources said that among the multiple strategies under the consideration is the option of turning in mass resignations. Furthermore, it was learnt that there has been a back-channel correspondence between government figures and some members of the Tareen group who are expected to backpedal into the folds of main leadership.

Irfan | 3 years ago | Reply Point is causes need to be seen why members joined JKT. Why they were angry within PTI. I analyse it is due to some members tried to rule PTI within. These are same people who recently joined PTI. Basically 2 x groups working within punjab PTI. Buzdar group and Tareen group. Buzdar group are recently leftovers if PPP and NL. Die hard and absolute new members of PTI being harmed by seasonal lotas. IK needs to take actions and senior leadership of PTI must address this issue.
