20 more tourists robbed at gunpoint in Swat

At least 20 more tourists were looted at gunpoint on Monday in Swat district located in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Malakand division.

This incident comes to light after two tourist coaches were robbed in separate incidents last week. K-P Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had also taken notice of the incident and ordered removal of the district police officer and deputy commissioner.

Police officials confirmed that the unfortunate incident took place in the Bahrain area of Swat where approximately 20 tourists were stopped by unidentified motorcyclists while they were travelling in a coaster from Lahore to Kalam.

The armed men forced the coaster to stop before they entered it and looted all the travellers. Sources familiar with the matter said that the robbers were able to successfully escape with nine smartphones and approximately Rs400,000 in cash.

The terrified students immediately reported the incident to the local police that reached the area and began investigation after registering a case.
