‘Religious harmony crucial for law, order’

Buzdar stresses respecting differences can foil nefarious designs of anti-peace elements

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said religious harmony was crucial for maintaining peace as well as law and order in the province.

He stated this while presiding over a meeting of the Punjab Ittihad Bainul Muslimeen Committee. Clergy, scholars and famous literary and religious personalities from all schools of thought were present on the occasion.

The chief minister claimed that the clergy and scholars had always guided the nation at every crucial time.

He lauded the role of scholars in promoting brotherhood, solidarity and religious tolerance in the country.

He further said that role of clergy in the promotion of religious harmony cannot be ignored. He added that Pakistan belongs to all of us and we can fulfil our commitments towards the country by joining hands, forgetting all differences and giving respect to each other’s religious sentiments.

“Everyone has to play a positive role for maintaining the peaceful atmosphere of religious harmony and brotherhood for foiling the nefarious designs of antipeace elements.”

Special Assistant to PM on Religious Harmony Tahir Ashrafi stressed upon the clergy to keep a vigilant eye on those who are spreading hate content on the internet. Zubair Ahmed Zaheer said that extending cooperation with the government was a national obligation.

Raghib Naeemi said that the government had taken timely and effective measures to maintain a peaceful atmosphere of religious harmony and brotherhood during Muharram last year.

Abdul Khabir Azad said that in order to maintain religious harmony, he visited Bhongh, Rahim Yar Khan as it is the duty of clergy and scholars to play a role of bridge to eradicate the differences.

Peer Syed Saeedul Hassan Shah said it is of utmost necessity to get aware of antipeace elements.
