Body of kidnapped ANP leader found

Obaidullah Kasi had been abducted from a village near Kuchlak 40 days ago

The body of Awami National Party (ANP) Balochistan central leader Malik Obaidullah Kasi, who was abducted at gunpoint from a village near Kuchlak 40 days ago, was found in Saranan Bazar, Pishin district of Balochistan Thursday.

The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Pishin where a large number of ANP workers also gathered to catch just a last glimpse of their leader.

The body was then sent to Quetta Hospital for autopsy.

Talking to The Express Tribune, senior vice president of the party, Haji Asghar Ali Tareen, and central committee member, Amir Ali Agha, said that the party leadership will hold an important meeting this evening to discuss the abduction and subsequent murder of Obaidullah Kasi in which important decisions will be taken about protests.

It is worth mentioning here that another senior ANP leader Asad Khan Achakzai was also abducted and his body was found in Quetta five months later. On the other hand members of Kasi Qaumi Ittihad, led by Arbab Nasir Haider Kasi, on Thursday blocked Airport Road near Alamo Chowk for all kinds of traffic to record their protest against the kidnapping and murder of their clan member.

This left long lines of vehicles on both sides of the road.

Addressing the protest, Kasi Qaumi Ittihad Chairman Arbab Nasir Haider Kasi, Kasi Youth Force Chairman Malik Zarar Kasi, Malik Aimal Kasi, Malik Sabur Kasi and Arbab Hameed Kasi said that the provincial government had failed in protecting the lives and property of the people, thus it should resign.

“It has no right to rule over the people,” he said, adding that Malik Obaidullah Kasi was abducted by unidentified persons near Kali Katir in broad daylight on June 26.

Despite the passage of 40 days, police and other law enforcement agencies had failed to recover him,” he said.

The protesters blamed that kidnapping for ransom was a lucrative business in the province and police and law enforcement agencies had failed to arrest the kidnappers, which is creating a sense of insecurity among the citizens.
